Pin It Day 3 September 12

Welcome to the hop. Today it is my turn to share a few pin cushions that I have played with over the last couple of weeks.
But first I want to thank Mdam Samm and Kristen for doing all that they do to keep us inspired and organized to do these hops. I think it takes a lot of talent to get the hops organized and to find the special cheer leaders to help to carry them all out.
And also to all the great sponsors that share some wonderful products that keep us wanting to create.

I am with a great bunch of bloggers today with the hop. Sew do stop in and check out what they have done as well . Let them inspire you to create as well.
 Here is today's line up
                                               September 12
                                                       Cherrys Prairie Primitives
            In Stitches& Seams that's me
For this hop I started with a little ruler that I received from Mdm Samm earlier this year as a little extra with my Blinky.

I picked a couple fabrics that I had on hand( actually on the ironing board). I then started cutting as I was not sure how many wedges I would need to make a full circle. I sew up the pairs and then quarter circles then the halves. I used the finished circle to cut a bottom for the pin cushion.  A little more sewing and stuffing and add a couple of buttons and here you have it.

Next I took a left over block from another project and made this little one...... Recognize the fabrics ?? I thought it made a nice little cushion with heart.

Then not stopping yet, I stopped by Moda Bakeshop and found this pattern for my bowlful of strawberries.......
just a little cream to go with them......

Seeing that I had a few days left I thought I would make one more , one that has a feeling of summer / fall. What else but a huge sunflower.
I did use a little paint to give the petal a sun kissed touch.

and a little Dragonfly to finish it off. It is just a little over sized and has a weighted bottom. I think it will work just fine at the ironing board, sure not to get lost in the ufo's that seam to collect there.

Hope you enjoyed my play time with pin cushions. Leave me a comment I and will include you in a draw at the end of the hop. Please make sure that  I can contact you. I have a copy of Summer's End and a ity bity charm pack and a few other goodies to keep them company on there way to the winner of the give away.

I will close with a pincushion I had found on line at Sew Mama Sew, I made it up a couple of years ago and use it a lot.
It is a handy one with a little garbage bag.
I did add a strip of gripping tape that I found in the purse notion area in the fabric shop, ( it is used to keep you purse strap in place on your shoulder but it also keeps it from sliding off my work area too)

HO HO HO Hop :)

Welcome to my turn on the hop.
First off I would like to thank Carol and Mdm Samm for all they do to get us organized and inspired for all this hop. There have been some great ideas and projects posted sew far and even more inspiration shared through each of the posts. Thanks sew much fellow hoppers.
I have had some fun with what I wanted to make for this hop.
I had a Christmas card that I had thought would make a nice little wall hanging..... sew I went from the card

to a little drawing of the snowman

then I pulled out some of the fabric I painted last year in a class at the Sask. Stitches Conference
sunprinting with seta colors and snowflakes
and just a touch of glitter

I added a few extra snow flakes

and this is what I came up with.

I am thinking I will be going through my old cards to see what else I can come up with next.
a close  up of my snowman and his button smile

And what would a Christmas/Holiday themed hop be without a give away
The Quilter’s Homecoming
This is one of Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilt novels.
The Quilter's Homecoming.
Just leave a comment and a way to contact you if you are a non-reply commenter. I will make the draw at the end of the hop, August  9th.
Here is the links to the rest of the posts for todays hop.

In Your Words - feeling a little Blue ???

  (My post for January 15)

Well it is almost at the end of the Hop .... but today is my turn to show you what I did.
A couple years ago at the Saskatchewan Stitches Conference I took a blue printing class also know as Cyanotype.
Blue Printing is done with  fabric that has been treated with chemicals that react to the sun. You work in semi darkness to prepare your fabric with items that will create your end design , kind of a negative image and then you take your work out in to the sunshine. The fabric starts out a chartreuse green and changes to the dark blue. When the desired darkness is achieved you then remove the design items and rinse it out well to stop the process and then hang to dry indoors. The only thing you must remember is that this fabric can never be washed with soap as the phosphates will take the blue away.
I had a great time learning and playing with this and loved the end result of the fabric. But alas you know who it goes that we do not always get everything done that we would like to , with what I had started in that class.
One of the items I did had some words that I like and that I think apply to all of us
 LIVE    LOVE and LAUGH.
some of my favorite words

Sew Thank you Madam Samm and Linda for this hop as it helped me to take out my wordy fabric and get creative.  I added some free motion quilting and embroidery.
Here is my finished product..... I hope you like it

Sew try to Live Well, Love with all your heart and Laugh often. I know I try to follow these words.

I also had one piece that I tea died  sew I made this little mat to stick my Needles and Pins into sew that they do not fall to the floor and get lost in the carpet only to be found later by someones' feet.( usually my hubby's)

I also have one more item only just started as I still am looking for the words to put along the wide border....
awaiting words,
maybe
 a baby's name
