Christmas sewing

Well all my Christmas sewing is done and delivered. Some in use and some under the tree.

Now to see if I remembered to take photos....

For our kids homes I made the charming Christmas tree quilt from the cat quarter quilt shop . I added an extra row alternating background and a charm square. From the cut off half square triangles I was halt to make a matching zig zag runner and I made up another fun Christmas tree running. These were tucked in a box of baking sent off to the kids as I had the feeling we would be spending Christmas apart staying safe this year. And this would be a good way to send them some love and a warm hug.

Missing the extra round....only photo I have.
 The runners I shared earlier

I have been working at getting my quilt tops quilted too. Now working on the last one I had pin basted.  :-) my craftsy 2016 BOM is quilted and only needs a label.

I have my Aurifil spools machine and hand quilted on in my sewing space.

A couple BOMs in the works to finish piecing and a few ufo's from past classes taught and taken. Then to take count on the kits on hand and work them up too. Looks like next year will be full of quilts to.

I'm still making a few masks, sad that they are apart of our normal, hey if they help keep us safe and healthy I'm all for them. I've been using them since March.

I will see what else I have gotten done since my last post. Looks like I should get a few photos taken . Hope  you enjoyed what I was able to share.

Take care, stay safe.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

A few more touques
A different  pattern to try out

Well the weatherman  is saying snow ❄  blizzard this weekend for us here on the prairies.  Winter is  on it's way. Break out the hot cocoa.... stay in stitches

And the stitch goes on

And on .... I  did a little sewing for a friend.  We made matching t shirts to go with the jammer shorts for her 3 grandsons.  It is sew cute how the oldest grandson like to have the 3 of them dress alike.

A bean bag toss game .... to pack in the camper. This was a gift given this summer.
The sweater .... finished. Perfect for this time of year.
One of the jelly roll rugs.
Silver linings quilt along from this summer. Still waiting to be quilted.
Another  jelly roll rug . Getting a little love as soon as it hit the floor.
A little dolly carry bed. Big enough for a 18 in doll.
A start on some touques for my daughter's school kids. My count is now 10.
A quilt repair, lucky to still have some fabric to match.
Place mats.... they are finished,  but in this photo they need the binding finished. These were a class sample that had been waiting for a while. Nice feeling getting some of these UFO's done.
A baby gift stocking for Christmas . I like them big. Big enough for baby to go in. And Santa can fill with sew many things from coloring books and crayons to bubble bath. Sew many fun items can go in and Santa doesn't have to pack it tight.
I'm sure I could go on for a few more days but I don't want to bore you.

I like keeping my hands busy and working on items for home family and the kids at our daughter's school.  I'm hoping to work on a few Christmas gifts over the next little while as well as finishing up a few more UFO's.

Take care and stay safe.

Other finishes....... with more to come

Recycled denim
A Covid 19 mystery quilt hosted by Claudia Phielf
Class sample made into a little pillow. Pillow form made from scrap batting.

Table runner kit made up and on the table.... I've have a few kits to get worked up in my stash of goodies.

A scrappy quilt made from .... you guessed it scraps and old work pants.
Another kit called out of line, a quick and easy one to work up.
Oh this one had been waiting for a long time to get quilted. I used invisible thread for most of the quilting and a little hand quilting in the corners.
This is one that I saw in a magazine years ago and found the print fabric I wanted to use. I made up a kit and there it sat until this year.
A little pillow made from left over blocks from the Covid mystery
I will look around to see what I have missed. I don't want to bore you with my show and tell.

Take care and stay safe

Weekend stitching

This weekend I was stitching up a few more masks to have on hand. I have been making 2 styles. Pleated and fitted, in sizes 2 to 5 yrs, 6 to 10 yrs and adult and large adult.  I have been giving them to people in our community.Finding new ways for the elastic as it is hard to find. I have also used bias binding, and cutting fabric strips as well as trying t shirt knit fabric and making crochet chains for ties. This has been a nice way to give back and work down some of my leftover fabrics.

Stash of masks

And just to keep my hands busy and work up some yarn I have started a knitting a sweater using a raglan sleeve sweater wheel that I bought about 40yrs ago...... sounds like I'm getting old....lol.  It's been a great source as it gives you choices of yarn from baby, sport to worsted. And the size range  from 6 months to man's 48 chest. Styles from round neck , v neck and cardigan.
This is the back children size 8.
Sweater back

I have a couple quilts at the machine for free motion quilting , just have to decide how or what design I want to stitch next.

And as I have said to my boys..... May the 4th be with you!

Sewing on a roll.....

Sew to speak.
Yesterday I cut up 3 half yard/meter fabrics into 2 1/2 inch strips , cut leftover batting into 2 1/4 inch strips. Dug out my jelly roll rug pattern and away I went. On the last round I made a hanging loop. This on is for my daughter and son in law for the bathroom and when not in use it will hang on the back of the door. Good idea dear.
Hanging jelly roll rug
Other than this I did manage to get a few quilt tops basted and ready to quilt. I cut out a few more masks and cut up more scrap batting into strips for more rugs.
Always something to do when you have fabric :-)
