Well I think that is most of the sewing I have been up to the last while. I have been getting a wee bit of knitting in as well.
We quilters are lucky as anyone with a hobby that they love we have something to do as we stay together apart staying safe with the Covid 19 out there.
Stay safe.

Snow stitching

Last weekend was my class for Christmas themed applique mug rugs. The ladies did awesome.
I have been working on a Christmas tree  skirt for our daughter and son in law , a pre Christmas gift. Just closing off the binding and then some buttons and it will be complete.

Buzzzz

Things that buzz, that is this month's challenge for the post card swap. Here's mine it will be off in the mail in the morning.
I bought these buttons just for making bees. I have used a few different ways for making their wings. On this one I used silk ribbon in a lazy daisy stitch.
I used will ribbon and embroidery floss in French knots for flowers in the grass.
It's always fun to play a little and create these post cards to share.
We will be lost without these little guys.

A stitch at a time

Always feels great to get a project done.
Quilted hug done.

It's  amazing what one accumulates over the years of left overs from quilts , either kits or fabrics purchased. I am working on the third quilt from such fabrics bought for one baby quilt. I decided it's time to get at them and maybe even sell them when done. I'm using a pattern on Mods Bake Shop called Jungle Path baby quilt.
With a cheddar accent
The other 2 with white and grey accents

And a weekly challenge on the design wall

Sew one stitch at a time and I hope to get a few more projects completed.

Stitching along

Well we are slowly bring our camping gear home, just the camper left. Kinda sad as this means summer is coming to a close. Falls not sew bad, shorter days may bring more quilting.
It's been a very wet day today, sew I was working on a few projects I have on the go. Binding is sewn on the Christmas quilt , now to finish by hand. Good tv work I think.
I was trying out a pattern for a bag with some sample fabric my niece gave me..... just need a piece of hardware, a slider and it will be done.
Also working a little on a quilted hug made from fabric given to me , I think it was leftovers from a quilt. Working up nicely. I hope to make a few of these Quilted hugs to give to the nursing home here in town. I'm sure someone could use a warm hug.

Still kicking and stitching too

Hello to you all in the land of blog.
Life has been full of highs and lows over the past year, but I think it is slowing down a bit.
I have tried to do a little quilting and sewing from time to time. I find it helps me to focus and find calm.
I have been part of a post card swap, that happens monthly. Planning some classes for this coming winter, and just playing catch up. My friend Carrie and I are still quilting up quilts for Victoria Quilts Canada. Sew there is always something to work on.
Here's a couple pictures of some of my more recent projects.

Snow Much Fun hop

Hello folks in the land of quilt.
As I stated earlier I participated in a block of the month with Quilt Doodle Doodles designs. Its been a fun quilt to work on with some simple piecing and some fun applique. I still have to get it quilted and then add some fun buttons and such.
Snow men just hanging around.

This quilt made a nice back drop by the snack table over the holidays. I'm hoping to get back at it shortly. Everyone loved these little guys.

We have had a few twists and turns in our lives over the last while and hope to find a balance in the next couple of weeks. I do find that quilting helps me find some balance. It helps me find a happy place..
Thanks Cindy for a great winter quilt and all the stories you shared along the way. Pop over to her blog and hop along to see some of the other quilts.

Playing with a ruler

Had a class last night using a 10 degree ruler and here's what we made. Sew proud of what  the ladies did in just a couple
It was fun working on this quick and easy runner. I'm sure there are many ideas on line for other project using this ruler. We talked about a rectangular runner and a Christmas tree skirt.
Remember to have fun playing with your rulers and patterns are only a guide to get you started.

A weekend in stitches

With Christmas less than 2 months away I  finished one gift and started another.. I like to make a few runners for gifts and here's one that I took inspiration from one I saw on Pinterest. I don't know the measurements she used and I used buttons instead of yoyos.  I like how it turned out , just a winter runner.

Yesterday my dear friend Shelia sent a picture of a quilted shawl she made for her mom. She also sent the link . It's call the quilted hug project. A pay it forward project, with a Facebook page and a YouTube video.
Thanks my friend for a great project I'm sure my mom will enjoy it. With a polar fleece back and no batting it is very light and cozy.
Now to figure out a couple more goodies to sew up.
Have a great week, stay

Snow Much Fun ... almost done

Well we sure have winter here in the prairies. The snow started Monday and we have had a bit every day I think since. I participated in a Block of the Month with Quilt Doodles Doodles call Snow Much Fun perfect for the snow that's out there now.
It's a cute quilt made with snowmen in different scenes and a little piecing. Mine is ready to sandwich and quilt. Love how it has turned out. After the quilting there will be some buttons added of stars and snowflakes.

My goal this year was to make a few quilts using my stash of fabrics on hand be they yardage or left over from another quilting project. Sew far I have made at least 4 and a couple runners. I have only bought backings or a bit for backgrounds. I did buy a couple little bundles for strips in varying widths for $2 each ... sew for $6 I was able to make this one.

Look up  Quilt Doodles Doodles sew that you can  follow along next year with her Block of the Month if you sew desire.

A long time between posts.

Hello my friends in the land of blog.
Life has been busy with different things happening over the spring summer and now fall.. boy oh boy time has flown by.
I have been sewing a bit some Block of the Month as well as some free motion quilting along classes. I  just got back to teaching some quilting classes. My learn to quilt class went well and the students  quilts all turned out great, I'm sew proud of what  they each created. Learning 3 blocks, flying goose, 9 patch and a square in a square we put them into a quilt and trimmed it up with a little different border. It was great to see the quilt in the different colors chosen. And how after they were put together how much they each liked their own choices lots of ooohs and ahhhhs in class. first quilts for most of the class. here's just a few.

Here is the first free motion quilt along hosted by Angela Walters , check her blog out and try some out . She has a number of classes offered.

I did work on a block a week with some Quilters from Nova Scotia. I did get all my blocks made and put together  now I just have to add a border.

I have also done a few postcard swaps which have been some good play time.
Thanks for stopping in.
Take care and stay .... in stitches

More FMQchallenge with Angela and more

Since my last post there has been 2 more lessons, curves and arcs, and leaves. I will practice my filled leaves a bit more . Here's my home work

In the end we will have a nice sampler quilt of fmq designs.

I have also been working on my blocks for the BOM 2018 from Quilt Doddle Design. Sew far each large pieced snowball block features snowmen and a story as she reveals the block. I have done some hand stitching and have to add some accent buttons, which I may try making.

Sew far these last few quilts have been from my stash of fabrics that have been used before but with lots leftover. It's nice to use some of them up, now to work on some more ufo's.
